MidCentral Repeat Survey and Flexible Disability Supports study

Find the MidCentral Repeat Survey 2021 and Flexible Disability Supports (FDS) study, both completed prior to the move from Ministry of Health and published by Whaikaha in March 2023.

Both studies were commissioned by the Ministry of Health and conducted by Standards and Monitoring Services (SAMS).

MidCentral Repeat Survey

The MidCentral Repeat Survey was completed in June 2021 and was a repeat of the 2018 Baseline Survey, conducted prior to the establishment of Mana Whaikaha.

The surveys compare the experiences of disabled people, tāngata whaikaha Māori and whānau before and after the MidCentral region began trialing the Enabling Good Lives (EGL) approach external URL  to disability supports in 2018 through Mana Whaikaha. 

Flexible Disability Supports study

The FDS study looked at the situation of 12 disabled people and their whānau from Christchurch and MidCentral who use an FDS contract. 

FDS is a type of contract available to some people for disability support. It is currently available to people accessing EGL in Christchurch and MidCentral. FDS contracts enable disabled people, tāngata whaikaha Māori and whānau to use their personal budget in a contracted partnership with a chosen provider.
