Interim Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement is for the website at www.whaikaha.govt.nz and was created on behalf of Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).

MSD is a signatory to the Accessibility Charter external URL . The Accessibility Charter is a commitment to providing accessible information to the public. As part of this commitment, we developed a 5-year programme of work. We have a dedicated team to carry out this work.

  • plain text.

In your message, include:

  • the web address (URL) of the information you need
  • the format you need — for example, Braille.

We will aim to get back to you in 2 working days in relation to when we can get the format you require made available to you. Please be aware, it can take up to 4 weeks to get specific formats created.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) external URL defines requirements for web accessibility.

Accessibility checks against the New Zealand Government Web Standards external URL were done during the development of this website. An Accessibility Audit will be completed post-website launch and the results of that Audit will be provided on this page.

We are progressively working to become fully conformant to WCAG 2.1 at Level AA.

 

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technologies

This website should work with common browsers.

We have not yet completed our testing against standard assistive technologies.

Assessment approach

This website’s accessibility has not been completed. Our assessment approach will consist of

  • evaluating selected pages against WCAG 2.1 Level AA
  • testing selected pages with assistive technologies.
